How Can Git Save My Life?

Before git I think it was really hard to maintain the edit history of text files; really long history. We as programmers should be very grateful that we have such a tool to use in our daily lives. It's very powerful in version control and collaboration with GitHub, and that's why it got really popular.
I hope that I get to be a master of git/GitHub soon.
